Iowa-Bred Colt Tops Wednesday Remington Training Races

Bob Urich's Lil Stepper, an Iowa-bred 2-year-old colt, posted the fastest time from 11 250-yard training races at Remington Park on Wednesday.
Aided by a 4-mph tail wind, Lil Stepper crossed the finish line in :13.46 while being hand ridden by jockey Jorge Torres. Stacy Hill trains the son of Lil Kool Wagon and the Special Legend mare RU Special.
Wednesday's training races were contested under cloudy skies with tailwinds ranging from 4-11mph. Remington Park has now conducted 73 training races prior to its 50-day meet, which opens on Friday.
Remington Park's opening weekend programs feature 15 Oklahoma Futurity trials on Saturday and Oklahoma Derby trials and the first two stakes of the meet -- the $50,000 Eastex Stakes (G2) and $70,000 Mighty Deck Three Stakes -- on Sunday.
