Duponte broke his maiden with a three-quarter length victory in Wednesday's Grade 3, 300-yard Harrah's Entertainment Futurity at Louisiana Downs.

Kristen Ashley Paredes' Duponte, the 10th-fastest qualifier, outran his 17-1 odds to win Wednesday's $267,700 Harrah's Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs.

Prepped by Josue Ponce and ridden by Francisco Ramirez Jr., Duponte covered 300 yards against a 15-mph head wind in :15.651, and his winning margin was three-quarters of a length from fastest qualifier and 3-5 favorite Valid Expectations. The $120,465 winner's share of the purse from the colt's first career victory pushed his earnings to $120,555 from just two outs.

Duponte was bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox. The colt's sire, the 8-year-old Ocean Runaway stallion American Runaway, was the sport's champion 2-year-old in 2010.

Duponte was a $6,700 buy at last year's Texas Quarter Horse Association Yearling Sale in San Antonio.

Ardor finished third, one length behind Duponte. Shez Freaky, Jeffs Knightmare, Carmel Diamond, Marfilous, Do It Again, Jess Zoe, and Mega Hero completed the order of finish.
