Stelfast and Spencey, a pair of 2-year-olds conditioned by reigning champion trainer Paul Jones, recorded the fastest and second-fastest 220-yard workouts, respectively, at Los Alamitos on Tuesday.

Working from the inside, John and Cina Sperry’s Stelfast earned Tuesday’s bullet work when he covered the distance in :12.10. The Stel Corona colt is out of The Goodbye Kisser, the winner of the 2010 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity (G2) and dam of 2015 Golden State Million Futurity (G1) finalist Favorite Kisser.

Spencey, meanwhile, posted the second-fastest time of :12.2 from the outside post. The colt by Walk Thru Fire is out of Sables Bono, the dam of 2014 La Primera del Ano Derby (G2) winner Fiesty Flo and 2013 Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G1) winner Remembering Spence, both of whom are half siblings to Spencey.

The third- and fourth-fastest works on Tuesday were recorded by Could Be King and Keeper, a pair of juveniles from the barn of trainer Jose Flores. By TR Dasher out of the Raise A Secret mare Queen Of Secrets, Could Be King is a half-brother to 2001 Governor’s Cup Derby (RG2) winner and Golden State Derby (G1) runner-up Blue Grass Bounce.

Quarter Horse racing fans are invited to enjoy the works at Schwanie’s Grill At the Gap on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday mornings. Videos of morning works are always available at www.losalamitos.com.
