Fourteen 300-yard schooling races were run at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack on Monday.

Paul Blanchard’s Three Six set the top time for 14 schooling races on Monday at Ruidoso Downs.

The 300-yard schooling races were held for two-year-olds. Many of the horses are pointing towards the trials to the Grade 1, $1 million Ruidoso Futurity on May 27-28, the first two days of the Ruidoso Downs summer season. The schooling races continue on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at Ruidoso Downs. First post time each day is 8:30 a.m. (MDT).
Head winds were a factor during the schooling race, and Three Six covered the 300 yards in :15.883 while facing a 15-mph head wind in the 10th race. A $32,000 buy at last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the gelded son of Tres Seis is trained by Paul Jones and was ridden by Sal Martinez.
Also racing the 300 yards in less than 16 seconds was High Plains Perry, owned by Paragon Farms LLC and Tommy Lipar. The Mr Jess Perry gelding was timed in :15.994 under Ricky Ramirez while taking the eighth race and running into a 14-mph headwind.
High Plains Perry, trained by Blane Wood, was bought for $100,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.
