A quick start from post 5 helped Rogelio Marquez Jr.'s The Golden Bowl earn a wire-to-wire victory in the $26,650 Develop A Plan Stakes (G3) at Delta Downs on Saturday.

Prepped by Martin Trejo and ridden by David Alvarez, The Golden Bowl went 350 yards in :17.606 while defeating JB First Rose by a half of a length. Scoopies Leaving You, the 8-5 favorite in the field of six, finished third, one length behind the winner.

The Golden Bowl was stretching out in distance off of his second-place finish in a 250-yard non-winners-of-four allowance-optional claiming ($20,000) sprint at Delta on April 27. The sorrel son of Mr Eye Opener was bred in Texas by Jorge Meraz.

The Golden Bowl has won four of his nine outs, and he was a finalist in last year's Old South Derby. The $15,000 winner's share of the purse from his first stakes win pushed the stallion's bankroll to $34,702.

RC Me Leaving You, Fasttimeswith Redoak, and Last Man Standin completed the official order of finish.
