Field Set for $264,398 Louisiana QHBA Derby

Gone Cartel is the fastest qualifier for the November 19 final at Evangeline Downs.

Roberta K. Weeks' Gone Cartel on Saturday won the third of four Louisiana QHBA Derby (R) trials at Evangeline Downs, and the gelded son of Coronas Leaving You is the fastest qualifier to the November 19, $264,398 final.

Ridden by John Hamilton for trainer Trey Ellis, Gone Cartel defeated fifth-fastest qualifier Jess Blueby Lena by a half of a length in :19.855 for 400 yards. The gelding was winning for the third time in 11 outs and first time in five starts this season.

Gone Cartel was bred by Chad Hart. A finalist in last year's $1-million Louisiana QHBA Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline, he has banked $81,100.
