Big Daddy Cartel Colt Tops NM Breeders' Futurity Qualifiers

Bug Daddy Cartel wins the last of four trials on Friday.

Four 350-yard New Mexico Breeders' Futurity trials were contested on a wet-fast track at SunRay Park on Friday.

Edilberto Estrada's Bug Daddy Cartel, a homebred son of Big Daddy Cartel trained by Ernest Fennell, is the fastest qualifier to the May 14, $100,000-est. New Mexico Breeders' Futurity (RG3) at SunRay Park.

Ridden by Jaime Parga Leos, Bug Daddy Cartel won the last of four 350-yard trials by a neck in :18.140 on a sealed track labeled wet-fast. The colt was scoring his first win in two outs.

Wdc Woody B Fast, a Woodbridge gelding trarined by Blake Rust for owner Barton Ranch Stable LLC, posted the second-fastest qualifier. Ridden by Martin Felix, Wdc Woody B Fast made his career debut with a wire-to-wire, one-length victory in the first heat.
