Field Set for $173,700 Gillespie County Fair Futurity

The field has been set for the August 27, $173,700 Gillespie County Fair Futurity, the richest race of the historic summer meet at the Fredericksburg, Texas, track.

Audi Murphi, a homebred son of Valiant Hero trained by Josue Ponce for owners Bobby D. Cox and Kristen Paredes, is the fastest qualifier after the colt won the second of 11 trials on Sunday. Ridden by Damian Martinez into a reported 10-mph head wind, Audi Murphi defeated non-qualifier Louisiana Silk by 1 1/2 lengths in :17.820.

Audi Murphi is out of Jess A Lil Bit More, a multiple graded stakes winning daughter of champion Mr Jess Perry.

Luis A. Rodriguez's Gianni Bailes, the second-fastest qualifier, broke his maiden with a nose victory from third-fastest qualifier Potus B in the sixth heat. Ridden by Luis Ruiz for trainer Jose Espinosa, the gelded son of the Corona Cartel stallion One Famous Gianni stopped the timer in :17.912.
