On the second day of All American Futurity (G1) trials, Zia Futurity (RG1) winner Bigg Daddy provided an impressive performance against open company, while notching both the fastest qualifying time of the day and the overall fastest time for the 10 qualifiers.

Ridden by all-time leading jockey G.R. Carter Jr., the gelding by Big Daddy Cartel powered home unchallenged, winning by 2 ¾ lengths.

“Wow,” said Carter. “I didn’t even turn the whip around until 150 yards from the finish. I could tell that he was just eating up ground.”

Trained by Wes Giles, the horse is owned by the Too For Too partnership of Vado, New Mexico. Bigg Daddy has won four of seven career starts and has earned $211,418. In addition to the Zia Futurity victory, he also placed in the Mountain Top Futurity (RG3) and made the finals of the New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2).

Bred by MJ Farms, the horse is out of champion Alice K White, a daughter of First Down Dash.

Giles also trains the day's current second-fastest qualifier, Uptown Dynasty.

Ruidoso and Rainbow futurity winner Eagle Jazz, who was pursuing the All American Triple Crown, won his trial by 4 1/2 lengths, but failed to qualify. This ends his bid for the rich $4 million bonus prize.
