James Flores rode odds-on favorite Streaks Of Ivory to a wire-to-wire victory in Saturday's $183,810 Iowa Double Gold Futurity (R) at Prairie Meadows.
Prepped by Larry Sharp for owners Jon Barley and Brant Barley and aided by a reported 10-mph tail wind, Streaks Of Ivory covered 350 yards in :17.540, and her winning margin was 1 1/2 lengths from Perfect Lota. The Ivory James filly was sent to post at odds of 7-10 in the full field of 10 2-year-olds and returned a $3.40 win mutuel.
Streaks Of Ivory was bred in Oklahoma by Michael C. Teel. The filly is out of Streakin Rare, a homebred winning 10-year-old daughter of champion Fredricksburg who ran second in the $99,150 Hialeah Derby in 2010.
Streaks Of Ivory sold for $10,000 at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. She has won two of five races, and the $73,524 winner's share of the purse from her first stakes victory increased her earnings to $107,680.
The Barleys and Sharp also teamed to win Saturday's Iowa Double Gold Derby with 2-1 favorite Dicecapades.
Cr Lota Girl finished third, two lengths behind Streaks Of Ivory, and was followed by Chick Can Fly, Jess Cuda Shuda Wuda, Rarified Air, Estrella De Noche, Bootn Scootn Corona, Okey Wind, and Peves Candy Chickman.
