Cartel Bug Shines in Remington Training Race

Seventeen schooling races were conducted under sunny skies on Wednesday.

Seventeen 250-yard schooling races were run at Remington Park on Wednesday.

Cartel Bug, a 2-year-old son of the Corona Cartel stallion This Cartel Is Cold and the winning Mr Jess Perry mare Shays Luvbug, recorded the fastest time on Wednesday, the first day of Remington Park's training races.

Ridden by G.R. Carter Jr. for owner Bob Merrill and trainer Dustin Cox, Cartel Bug won the fourth of 17 training races by a half of a length in :13.206 for 250 yards. The first day of training race activity was conducted under sunny skies with temperatures in the high 40s. All races were aided by northerly winds ranging between 19-22 mph.

Remington Park's 50-date Quarter Horse meet opens March 10 and runs through June 3. The track's schooling races resume February 15.
