Rosendo Valdez's Shatto Stoli made his sophomore debut with a wire-to-wire victory in Saturday's $25,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes (R) for state-bred 3-year-olds.

Ridden by David Alvarez for trainer Rosendo Valdez Jr., Shatto Stoli covered 350 yards in :17.493 while earning a 103 speed index. The sorrel son of champion Stoli's margin of victory was a clear 1 1/2 lengths from Lil Bro Big Streak.

Shatto Stoli was coming off of a fourth-place finish in the 350-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes (RG2) at Fair Grounds Racecourse on December 10. The gelding was bred by Juan San Miguel Jr., and he is out of the winning Mr Jess Perry mare Scoopie Coochie.

Shatto Stoli has won three of 11 outs, and the $15,000 winner's share of the purse from his second career stakes score pushed his bankroll to $62,325.

Tf Eyesa Firefighter finished third, 1 1/2 lengths behind Shatto Stoli. Jess A Little Star, Mps Shake Em N Style, Corazon Dfuego, Oak Almighty, Princess Quick Jet, Fabulously Fast Game, and This Game Is Real completed the order of finish.
