Heza Louisiana Dash is Prompt Choice in $100,000 Louisiana Classic

The 5-year-old gelding earns his third stakes win of the Delta Downs meet on Saturday.

Heza Louisiana Dash shined again on Saturday, as the 5-year-old son of Heza Fast Dash rallied to win the 440-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Classic Stakes (RG2) for state-breds at Delta Downs.

Ridden by Gilbert Ortiz and racing against a reported 10-mph head wind, Heza Louisiana Dash defeated Jes A Fast Dasher by a head in :21.519. Kenneth Roberts Sr. trained the brown gelding for Robert S. Holland's TM Ranch.

Heza Louisiana Dash extended his win streak to three while earning the $60,000 winner's share of the purse. He was bred by Jumonville Farms and Burnett Ranch, and he sold for $52,000 at the 2013 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders' Association Yearling Sale.

Heza Louisiana Dash was coming off of victories in the 350-yard, $50,000 Open Me A Corona Stakes (R) on April 22, and the 400-yard, $60,000 Vals Fortune Stakes (RG2) on a muddy and sealed track on June 3. All told, the gelding has won 12 of 23 starts, including six stakes, and he has banked $477,641, of which $126,000 has been earned from his three races at Delta this season.

Jess A Saint was third, a neck behind Heza Louisiana Dash, and was followed by Who Jack, Strong Guns, Coronas Statement, Heza Bell Perry, Icanonlyemagine, and Jls Dashn And Zoomn.
