Fastest qualifier and odds-on favorite Sr Shambles parlayed a sharp break from his rail post to score a wire-to-wire victory in the $108,800 Hertland Futurity at Indiana Grand on Saturday.

Ridden by David Pinon and aided by a reported 5-mph tail wind, Sr Shambles went 300 yards in :15.467, and his margin of victory was a half of a length from Dicey Dream. Jeannette Hoover prepped the bay Desirio gelding for owner Cynthia Allen.

“He stood in the gate perfect and left like a rocket,” said Pinon. “I didn’t ask him to do much. I just hung on for the ride tonight.”

Sr Shambles was bred in Oklahoma by Jovetta Meredith. The gelding's dam, Parisz, is a winning 10-year-old daughter of Azoom and the multiple graded stakes winning Royal Quick Dash mare Quick Moon Sign.

Raced in Louisiana and Indiana, Sr Shambles has won four of eight starts and was a finalist in the July 1, 350-yard Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs. The $59,840 winner's share of the Heartland Futurity purse pushed his earnings to $77,127.

El Candyman ran third, three-quarters of al length behind Sr Shambles. Miss Kips Prospect, You Were Right, All American Ease, Oh What A Secret, Thundering Moonflash, and Senator Shazoom completed the order of finish. Smokin Lil Secret was scratched.
