Sent to post as the 3-5 favorite in a field of five Louisiana-bred sprinters, Heza Louisiana Dash responded with a wire-to-wire, three-quarter length win in Saturday's $60,000 Vals Fortune Stakes (RG2) at Delta Downs.

Heza Louisiana Dash covered 400 yards on a muddy and sealed track in :19.426. Gilbert Ortiz rode the 5-year-old son of Heza Fast Dash for owner TM Ranch and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr.

In addition to earning a 102 speed index, Heza Louisiana Dash banked the $36,000 winner's share of the Vals Fortune purse. The gelding was bred by Jumonville Farms and Burnett Ranch, and he was stretching out in distance off of his three-quarter length victory in the 350-yard, $50,000 Open Me A Corona Stakes (R) for Louisiana-breds at Delta on April 22.

Heza Louisiana Dash has won 11 of 22 starts and has earned $417,641 while racing exclusively in Louisiana. He has won five stakes, including the 2015 Louisiana QHBA Derby (R) as the fastest qualifier at Evangeline Downs.

Jes A Fast Dasher finished second and was followed by Jess A Saint, Cute Mic Jagger, and Jethro Almitey.
