Ivory James Gelding Tops TQHA Sires' Cup Futurity Qualifiers

Shades Of Gray, a gray son of Ivory James owned by Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez, is the fastest qualifier to the July 1, $125,000-est. TQHA Sires' Cup Futurity (RG3 at Retama Park.

Ridden by Jorge Linares for trainer Javier Noel Contreras, Shades Of Gray on Friday won the first of seven 350-yard trials by one length in :17.864. The Oklahoma-bred gelding was winning for the first time in three outs and increasing his earnings to $5,036.

Shades Of Gray was bred by Bobby D. Cox. and he is out of the unraced 7-year-old Ocean Runaway mare Verrsace. His second dam, the graded stakes winning Runaway Winner mare No Fees, won all six of her starts and banked $166,320 from 2003-04.
