Despain GL Leads First Night of Heritage Place Futurity Trials

The Desirio colt won the first of 12 heats on Friday.

Despain GL, a sorrel son of Desirio racing for the Garza Laurel Partnership of Laredo, Texas, on Friday topped the first night of trials to this year's Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park.

Despain GL won the first of 12 trials by 1 3/4 lengths in :17.516. Agustin Silva rode the colt for trainer R.L. "Rick" Robinson.

Despain GL was bred in Texas by Somos Diez. The colt is out of Pain And Pleasure, a winning 6-year-old daughter of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Mighty Invictus, and he has won two of his first three outs and has banked $19,068.
