Once Over Wins Grade 2 Lovington Stakes

The 8-year-old gelding extends his winning streak to three on Sunday.

Bujanda Racing Stables' Once Over won Sunday's Lovington Stakes at Zia Park.

Once Over, an 8-year-old Walk Thru Fire gelding owned by Bujanda Racing Stables, extended his win streak to three with a neck victory in Sunday's $50,000 Lovington Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.

Ridden by Raul Herrera for trainer Jose Marquez, Once Over went 400 yards in :19.511 while racing against a reported 11-mph head wind. The Lovington Stakes is the major local prep for the 440-yard, $150,000 Zia Park Championship (G1), which this year will be contested during Zia Park's "Land of Enchantment Day" program on November 22, the day before Thanksgiving.

Once Over was bred in California by Edward Allred. The gelding was coming off of a victory in the September 17, 350-yard James Isaac Hobbs Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.

Once Over has won 10 of 31 starts, and the $30,000 winner's share of the purse from his sixth stakes win pushed the gelding's earnings to $290,785.

TF Im That Guy, Cobalt Creek, Rarin, Don Quixote, Jess Burnin, De la Eagle, Prospects Smashing, Karls Motor Boat, and Wager On A Moon completed the order of finish.
