Martha Wells' Yanque, a homebred son of Favorite Cartel trained by Matt Fales, is the fastest qualifier to the October 29, $129,100 Wild West Futurity at Los Alamitos.

Ridden by Cruz Mendez, Yanque on Sunday won the first of four 350-yard trials by 1 3/4 lengths in :17.682. A finalist in the July 29 Governor's Cup Futurity (RG2), he was coming off of a neck victory in the 350-yard, $15,000 The Plan Handicap at Los Alamitos on September 8.

Yanque is out of Red Hawk Chick, a winning homebred 12-year-old daughter of champion Hawkinson who ran third in the 2007 Desert Classic Futurity (G3) at Turf Paradise.
