Political Attraction is Fastest Black Gold 350 Futurity Qualifier

The Grade 3 winner leads the way in trials on Saturday.

Eleven Black Gold 350 Futurity trials were contested at Will Rogers Downs, as the Claremore, Oklahoma track opened its Quarter Horse season on Saturday.

Rogelio Marquez Jr.'s Political Attraction on Saturday posted the fastest qualifying time to the September 24, $282,552 Black Gold 350 Futurity (RG3) at Will Rogers Downs.

Ridden by James Flores for trainer John Weghorst, Political Attraction won the eight of 11 350-yard trials by three lengths in :17.608. The gelded son of Apollitical Jess was making his first start since July 29, when he scored a 1 1/2-length victory in the 350-yard, $214,000 Speedhorse Futurity (G3) at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.

Political Attraction was bred in Oklahoma by Ron Lyles and sold for $10,000 at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale. The gelding has won three of six races and has earned $159,996.
