Field Set for New Mexico State Fair Derby

Sophie Garcia and Mr Klee are the co-fastest qualifiers from Sunday's trials

Three 400-yard trials on Sunday determined the finalists for the September 24, $100,000-added New Mexico State Fair Derby (RG3) for state-bred 3-year-olds at Albuquerque Downs. 

Co-fastest qualifier Sophie Garcia won first trial by a nose from third-fastest qualifier A Super Sonic Boom in :19.462. Justin Joiner trained and Cody Jensen rode the sorrel daughter of Big Daddy Cartel for owner Paul Blanchard of Albuquerque.

Co-fastest qualifier Mr Klee won the third heat by a neck from fourth-fastest qualifier Big Spurs. Trained by Justin Joiner for owners Calder and Candy Ezzell of Roswell, New Mexico, Mr Klee covered the distance in :19.462 under jockey Cody Jensen.
