Eagle Cry, a gelded son of One Famous Eagle campaigned by Irma Z. Vargas and Giovanni Vargas, on Friday posted the fastest qualifying time to the September 30, $214,200 Dash For Cash Derby (G3).

Ridden by Jesse Levario in the fifth of seven trials at Lone Star Park, Eagle Cry defeated eighth-fastest qualifier Gianni Que by two lengths in :21.693 for 440 yards. The gelding was prepped by Rolando Almanza, and he was stretching out in distance off of his second-place finish in the August 12, 400-yard Adequan Retama Derby Challenge Stakes at Retama Park.

Eagle Cry was bred in Missouri by Jim Streelman and Bill Dale. He has won three of 12 starts and has banked $22,802.
