Field Set for Grade 2, $393,000 Dash For Cash Futurity

JA Am I Blue, a son of champion Jess Louisiana Blue owned by Irma Z. Vargas, is the fastest qualifier to the September 30, $393,000 Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) at Lone Star Park.

Racing in the 10th of 11 400-yard trials on Saturday, JA Am I Blue defeated third-fastest qualifier Thecartelofmiracle by 1 1/2 lengths in :19.725. Jesse Levario rode the colt for trainer Rolando Almanza.

JA Am I Blue was bred in Texas by Joe B. Allen and Dallas Blakley. The colt has won two of four starts and has earned $82,056, and he was making his first start since April 29, when he ran second in the Grade 2, 330-yard Sam Houston Futurity at Sam Houston Race Park.

Randy J. Davis’ Cloud Ridge, a homebred son of champion Carters Cartel trained by Stacey Capps, posted the second-fastest qualifying time with his clear three-length victory in the 11th heat. Ridden by Mario Delgado, the Oklahoma-bred gelding went 400 yards in :19.886 while earning his third win in four outs.

Cloud Ridge was coming off of a half-length victory in the 350-yard, $50,000 Easy Jet Stakes (RG3) for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds at Remington Park on June 3.
