Keith W. Nellesen's KVN Corona dominated his opposition on Sunday, as the Utah-bred son of Corona Cartel won the sixth of 10 PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity (G2) trials and posted the fastest time to the October 7, $400,000 final at Los Alamitos.

Prepped by Paul Jones and ridden by Ramon Sanchez, KVN Corona went 350 yards in :17.694, and his margin of victory was a clear 2 1/4 lengths from non-qualifier Dont Foose With Me. The colt has won all four of his starts, including the June 18, 350-yard Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1), and he has earned $411,450.

“That really was a great (performance), and he’s just a great horse,” said Jones, a 14-time AQHA Champion trainer. “I’ve said before that he’s just a professional. He’s good at the barn and he’s easy to train. He goes in the paddock and he’s a little pro, then he goes on the track and does his job. It’s a pleasure to have a horse like him.

"He ran a nice race and stayed out of trouble," he added. "Ramon didn't have to ride him too hard, and he kept his winning streak alive. We’re happy.”
