Zee James, the fastest qualifier and 7-5 favorite, sprinted to her first stakes win in Saturday's New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) for state-bred 2-year-olds at Sunland Park.

Ridden by Adrian Ramos and aided by a reported 12-mph tail wind, Zee James went 300 yards in :15.057. Wes Giles prepped the homebred daughter of Jesse James Jr for owners Robert Driggers and Ben Lee Ivey.

Zee James earned a 98 speed index and the $186,314 winner's share of a stakes-record $396,412 purse. The filly made her debut with a dominating 3 3/4-length victory in a Spring Futurity trial on March 16. She is out of On A Bunny, a homebred stakes-winning daughter of On A High.

Zee James has won both of her outs and has banked $191,654.

Woodys Copy Cat finished second and was followed by Midnite Blu, Cat Daddys Lil Girl, Rallydownthealley, Igotmybiggirljeanson, Cowboy On The Run, Cristobell Fame, HS Paul Walker, and Special Outlaw.
