David J. Sanchez's Tyson Gay, the second-fastest qualifier and 1-2 favorite, sprinted to a three-quarter length victory in Sunday's $115,300 Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park.

Ridden by Eddie Aceves for trainer Jose Antonio Moreno, Tyson Gay covered 400 yards in :19.610 and earned a 101 speed index while racing against a reported 10-mph head wind. The brown son of champion Foose was winning for the fourth time in as many outs and banking the $46,120 winner's share of the purse from his second stakes victory.

Tyson Gay was bred by Dr. Steve Burns of Menifee, California. A $10,000 yearling purchase at last year's Los Alamitos Equine Sale, the gelding has earned $65,739, and his race record includes a half-length win in the April 29, 300-yard AQRA Spring Fling Futurity at Turf Paradise.

Tyson Gay is out of Hawk Kue Pie, a 13-year-old daughter of champion Hawkinson who won the 2010 Las Damas Handicap (G2) at Los Alamitos in her final career start. His second dam, the winning Chicks Beduino mare Kool Kue Chick, is a half sister to two-time champion aged mare Kool Kue Baby.

Tyson Gay returned a $3 win mutuel and teamed with fastest qualifier and 7-2 second choice Midnite Dash for a $7 ($2) exacta. Slayer, an 11-1 longshot, ran third to complete a $1 trifecta payoff of $28.10.

Logans Favorite, Invite A Favor, Capos Sassy Laaydee, One Two, Beyond Speed, Moshi Yoshi, and Aint She Kool completed the order of finish.
