Joel Galindo's Scoopies Leaving You sprinted to a neck victory from his rail post in the 250-yard, $15,000 Harrah's Dash Stakes, as this track opened its 2018 winter Quarter Horse meet on Saturday.
Ridden by Donald Watson for trainer Kevin Broussard, Scoopies Leaving You stopped the timer in :13.579. In addition to posting an 85 speed index against a reported 10-mph head wind, the brown son of Coronas Leaving You banked the $9,000 winner's share of the purse.
"He's seven years old and has run 43 races, and he is sound as a dollar," said Broussard of Scoopies Leaving You. "He's still a stallion, but you'd never know it.
"He likes the rail," the trainer added. "He'll lug in sometimes, so that's the gate we really like."
Scoopies Leaving You was bred in Louisiana by Gerald D. Libersat. Campaigned in Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico, he has won 17 of his 43 outs and has earned $327,433.
Fast N Famous Eagle, Barefoot Beach, MSM Runaway Dash, TF Jess A Leader, Fancy Mamacita, Vicious Woman, RBD Jessaswingin, Kut The Rope, and Di Maria completed the order of finish.
