Featuring Fast Jess Wins $268,655 Delta Downs Derby

Featuring Fast Jess won Saturday's Delta Downs Derby for Louisiana-bred 3-year-olds.

Second-fastest qualifier Featuring Fast Jess extended his winning streak to three races with a three-quarter length victory in Saturday's 400-yard, $268,655 Delta Downs Derby (R) for Louisiana-bred sophomores at Delta Downs.

Racing for Fernando Ramos and sent to post as the 4-1 second choice in the full field of 10, Featuring Fast Jess defeated 11-10 favorite and fastest qualifier Shesa Diamond Diva in :19.514. Noe Castaneda rode the sorrel Heza Fast Dashing gelding, who was scoring his sixth win in 13 starts and second stakes score.

Featuring Fast Jess' current streak includes a head victory in the 400-yard, $50,000 Vinton Stakes (R) for state-bred 3-year-olds on May 19. The gelding was bred by Jumonville Farms/Burnett Ranch, and he has won three of his six starts at Delta Downs.

The $134,328 winner's share of the Delta Downs Derby purse increased Featuring Fast Jess' earnings to $249,425, of which $190,605 has been banked this year.

Second Down Leaving, JRS Taylors Runnaway, The Cazador, Heza Jess Cuervo, Fabulously Black, Ima Gone Reba, Lil Biscuit, and Cant Catchacorona completed the order of finish.
