Sent to post at odds of 7-1 despite his standing as the second-fastest qualifier, Jess Move You rewarded his backers and his connections with a three-quarter length victory in Saturday's $759,197 Ruidoso Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.

Jess Move You covered 400 yards in :19.725 and earned a 93 speed index while aided by a reported 13-mph tail wind. Agustin Silva rode the sorrel son of Apollitical Jess for owners Ricardo A. Bernal and Reymundo F. Resendez and trainer Rodolfo Valles.

Jess Move You was bred in Oklahoma by Debbie Strebig, and the gelding was one of four Ruidoso Derby finalists trained by Valles, 24, a one-time assistant to Blane Wood and C. Dwayne "Sleepy" Gilbreath.

"It's a dream come true," the young conditioner said.

Jess Move You's victory extended his current win streak to three. The skein includes a victory in the April 22, 400-yard Animas Stakes for 3-year-olds at SunRay Park.

All told, Jess Move You has won four of 10 starts, and the $318,863 winner's share of the purse from his second career stakes score pushed his bankroll to $362,351, of which $345,191 has been earned his season.

Cartel Cupid finished second and was followed by Hierarchy, fastest qualifier and 7-5 favorite Uptown Dynasty, Eyes The Favorite, She Eat Fire, Time To Jazz, champion KVN Corona, Prince Of Bo Dash, and Paint On Canvas.
