Shesa Diamond Diva Sets Fastest Qualifying Time for Delta Downs Derby

The graded stakes placed filly makes her season debut with a win on Friday.

Crown Horse Racing LLC's Shesa Diamond Diva is the fastest qualifier to the July 7, $268,655 Delta Downs Derby (R) for Louisiana-bred 3-year-olds.

Ridden by Eddie Sanchez for trainer Jose Luis Sanchez III, Shesa Diamond Diva on Friday won the third of five 400-yard trials by one length in :19.546. The gray daughter of Struttin to Beduino was making her first start since December 16, when she ran second in Louisiana's richest horse race, the 400-yard, $1-million Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs.

Shesa Diamond Diva was bred by Paul C. Fontenot Jr. A $9,000 purchase at the 2016 LQHBA Yearling Sale, the filly has won four of eight starts and has earned $278,221.
