Making her first-ever start on a wet track, the Parsons Family Limited Partnership's Terrific Temptation on Saturday set the fastest qualifyiing time to the March 30, $183,800 La Primera del Ano Derby (G3) for 3-year-old fillies at Los Alamitos.

Terrific Temptation won the second of two 400-yard trials by one length in :19.782 on a sealed track officially labeled "wet fast.' Jesus Rios Ayala rode the homebred daughter of Tempting Dash and the multiple graded stakes winning Mr Jess Perry mare Terrific Energy for trainer Chris O'Dell.

Terrific Temptation was coming off of a sixth-place finish in a 330-yard second-level allowance dash on February 17.

"All of Terrific Energy's babies love the mud," O'Dell said. "They always run great on a muddy track.

"Parsons Ranch always has some very nice horses,” he added. “Terrific Temptation is just a fast horse. Her main issue is behaving in the gate. She broke through the gate in her trial to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (when she was scratched from the race on November 26). Yesterday we schooled her in the paddock and in the gate. She is really good when she breaks clean like tonight.”

Raced exclusively at Los Alamitos, Terriffic Temptatioin has won four of 10 starts and has banked $18,930.
