Joe Rios' Suze Returns, a daughter of High Rate Of Return and a $13,000 purchase at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale, is the fastest qualifier to the April 14, $269,459 West Texas Futurity (G2) at Sunland Park.

Ridden by Jaime Leos for trainer Juan M. Gonzalez and aided by a reported 18-mph tail wind, Suze Returns won the fifth of 10 300-yard trials on Friday. The Oklahoma-bred filly tripped the timer in :15.109 while making her career debut.

Suze Returns was bred by Flag Ranch LLC. The filly is out of Brown Eye Suze, a winning and graded stakes placed 13-year-old mare by Mr Eye Opener.

Sweet Temptation, the second-fastest qualifier, made her debut with a one-length win in the first heat. Ridden by G.R. Carter Jr., the sorrel daughter of champion Tempting Dash went 300 yards in :15.187 while aided by a reported 13-mph tail wind. Justin Joiner prepped Sweet Temptation for owners R.D. Hubbard, Henry "Butch" Southway, Johnny D. Cope and Ray Willis.

Sweet Temptation was bred in Texas by Julianna Hawn Holt, and she was acquired for $41,000 at last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. The filly's dam, A Dash Of Sweet Heat, is an 8-year-old daughter of champions Mr Jess Perry and Corona Chick.
