Julio Contreras' VF Jedi Returns on Saturday posted the fastest qualifying time from the second night of 350-yard Heritage Place Futurity (G1) trials at Remington Park.

Ridden by G.R. Carter Jr. for trainer Samuel Valdivia, VF Jedi Returns won the eight of 11 trials by a half of a length in :17.565. As a result, the gelding is the fastest overall qualifier from both nights of trials.

VF Jedi Returns was bred in Oklahoma by Victory Farms, and he was coming off of a second-place finish in the 330-yard Remington Park Juvenile Invitational Stakes (R) for state-bred 2-year-olds on April 21. The sorrel gelding has won three of four starts and has earned $47,562.

Contreras, a resident of Laredo, Texas, acquired VF Jedi Returns for $9,700 at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

Aqua Flash, the second-fastest overall qualifier, was the fastest qualifier from Friday's 11 heats.
