Mr Jess Perry Filly Tops Governor's Stakes Qualifiers

Jess My Joy is the fastest qualifier to the October 27, $100,000 final at Indiana Grand

Jess My Joy, a daughter of champion Mr Jess Perry owned and trained by Ricardo Martinez, on Saturday set the fastest qualifying time to the October 27, $100,000 Governor's Stakes for 2-year-olds at Indiana Grand.

Ridden by Sergio Ramirez, Jess My Joy won the first of four 350-yard trials by one length in :17.661. The filly was winning for the first time in six starts.

Jess My Joy was bred by Weetona Stanley of Madill, Oklahoma. The filly is out of First Prize Joy, a homebred daughter of 2003 world champion Oak Tree Special, and she has banked $12,128 while racing in Indiana, Iowa, and California.
