Faster Then U, an Oklahoma-bred son of Ivory James owned by the Faster Then U Partners, is the fastest qualifier to the September 23, $250,000-est. La Fiesta Futurity at Albuquerque Downs.

Trained by Jimmy Padgett and sent to post as the 11-10 favorite, Faster Then U on Saturday won the second of four 400-yard trials by 2 1/4 lengths in :19.522. Alonso Rivera rode the brown gelding, who was winning for the second time in four starts.

Faster Then U was bred by Brian L. Gunder, and he was a $70,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The gelding was coming off of a one-length victory as the even-money favorite in a 350-yard, $16,000 maiden-special-weight dash at Albuquerque on July 29.
