'Redneck' Hopes to be Top Belle at Tulsa
Redneck Sis is looking for a win in the Belle Stakes.
July 2, 2014
Originally scheduled for Saturday, June 28, and cancelled due to inclement weather, the Belles Stakes will be the feature race for Fair Meadows at Tulsa’s Fourth of July program.
With a special post time of 1 p.m., the holiday race card will also include the Spots and Dots Stakes for Paints and Appaloosas.
The Belles Stakes will be contested at a distance of 350 yards as the 11th race of 12 races on the card. A purse of $15,000 is up for grabs in the race for 3-year-old and older fillies and mares.
Last year’s runner-up in the Belles Stakes, Redneck Sis will look to top that performance by one spot this year. Trained by Bonnie Wilson, Redneck Sis was outnodded in the final strides during last year’s running of the Belles Stakes. Regular jockey Randy Wilson has the call and will break the 6-year-old SC Chiseled In Stone mare from Post 7.
Fair Meadows' 2014 Mixed Breed Season continues Thursday through Sunday, until July 26. First post time is 6 p.m. weeknights and 4:05 p.m. on Sundays. There will also be Wednesday evening racing at 6 p.m. on July 2, July 16, and July 23.
