Invaders Win Canadian Derby Divisions

Free Thought, Zoom Daphne win at Lethbridge.

California invader Free Thought and Oklahoma-bred Zoom Daphne each took a division to the $6,500-added All Canadian Open Derby Saturday at Lethbridge.

Zoomin Daphne was an impressive two length winner in the Division 1 of the All Canadian Open Derby. Owned-and-trained by Bruce Ironshirt, the Azoom filly completed the 350 yards in a quick :17.550, good for a 105 speed index.

Dwight Lewis was aboard the Oklahoma-bred out of La Reina de La Noche, by First Down Dash. Henry E. Brown is the breeder.

Free Thought, who was making just his second start since arriving north of the border, was a neck winner over Way To Dough in Division 2. Ridden by jockey Ramiro Castillo the Stel Corona gelding completed the 350 yards in :18.110.

William Leech saddled the California-bred for owner Charles Stojan. Edward C. Allred bred the bay from the Pritzi Dash mare Just Think.
