Wyoming Downs hosts Wyoming and Utah-bred futurity trials.


Wyoming Downs hosted trials for the Wyoming Bred Futurity and the Utah Bred Futurity on Sunday's race card. The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the three Wyoming Bred trials, will face each other on Saturday, July 5, in the 330 yard final. On Sunday, July 6, the 10 fastest Utah Bred qualifiers, from the five trial races, return to the Wyoming racetrack and vie for the winner's share of a $10,000-added purse.

Trainer Mike D. Taylor saddled Jlcjazzslilbro to his third consecutive win in three starts this season in the first Wyoming Bred trial. Following a 2-length win, the colt posted the top qualifying time of :17.866, for a 99 speed index. The homebred Bono Jazz gelding owned by John Robinson came into the race off a win in the consolation at Miles City on May 18. Roger Buening had the riding assignment on the gray out of Chasin Banks, by Robin Banks.

TR Letther First broke her maiden in the last trial to post the second fastest time of :17:923 after defeating Lil Shameless Sage by one length. Benjamin Villegas conditions the TR Dasher daughter for owner/breeder Pedro Mena. Jesus Virgen rode the sorrel miss out of Lett Her Dash, by Pure D Dash.

Utah Bred Futurity Gary Robinson's homebred CIR Mark Of A Queen won the first of five Utah Bred Futurity trials by one length over A Victory Lap to post the top qualifying time of :17.730, for a 104 speed index over the 350 yard course.

It was the first win in three starts for the Chancey Spencer trained daughter of Mark My Dial. Tyson Lusk had the riding assignment aboard the filly out of CIR Queen Of Style, by Stylus. Coming off a win in the Beehive Futurity May 17, First Rate Version defeated Dinero Doble by 2-lengths in the second trial to get the second fastest time of :17.809 seconds, for a 102 speed index. Chris Mitchell conditions the Winners Version homebred for Jon Lane Henderson. The two-time winner is out of Cinco Baby, by Stel Corona.
