Alis Jumpn Takes SunRay's La Plata

Jumpn filly records another victory with her first stakes win.

Pedro Carrillo’s Alis Jumpn came into Saturday’s $35,000 La Plata Stakes (G3) at SunRay Park with an impressive record of six wins from 10 starts, but she had finished a beaten ninth in her only other stakes race. The daughter of Jumpn made amends for that, as she popped out of the gate was never headed before hitting the wire a half-length in front in a time of :19.420 for 400 yards. Sent off as the 8-5 favorite, Alis Jumpn was ridden by Jorge Bourdieu for trainer Ramon Gallegos.

Bred in Texas by Don S. Apodaca, Alis Jumpn improved her record to 11-7-1-0 with earnings of $110,510. She is now undefeated in three career starts at SunRay Park, and she has also recorded two wins at Zia Park, one at Sunland Park and one at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Kerrys Wave Carver, the second favorite at 5-2, got up to take second in her first start since finishing third in the West Texas Maturity (G3) on March 1 at Sunland. The ultra-consistent Coyote James finished third to hit the board for the 12th time in 14 career starts.
