November 6, 2014
Mercy Hinklin’s Horse Farm LLC’s FDD Going Grand drops to a level where he has found success when he starts in the $20,000 Evangeline Dash Stakes at 220 yards on Saturday at Evangeline Downs.
FDD Going Grand (FDD Dynasty-Cash Cartel by Corona Cartel) comes off a run in the $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1) over 440 yards. He turned in a creditable fourth-place effort at 10-1 odds.
The consistent Kenny Roberts-trained colt has built an enviable stakes record with five wins, seven seconds and a third from 15 starts. He won this year’s $25,000 Develop A Plan Stakes (G3) and had close second-place runs in the $50,000 Miss Polly Stakes (G3) and the $40,000 Gentilly Dash at 250 yards.
The Grade 1 highlight of FDD Going Grand’s career was when he was moved up to second place in the 2012 running of the $425,565 Dash For Cash Futurity.
R. Marquez’s Rosouti (Agouti-Rose For Windy by Heza Fast Dash) was fourth, beaten by one-half length, behind FDD Going Grand in the Gentilly Dash and is back in the Evangeline Dash. After the Gentilly, she won a $15,960 open allowance race by one-half length over 220 yards for trainer Martin Trejo.
George Del Fierro’s The Nostradamus (Dashin Bye-Fast N Smooth 880 by Speedy Hemp) has won five of 11 starts, however is looking for his first stakes win. Two starts ago he was third in the $50,000 Flying Breed Stakes for Louisiana-breds at 250 yards.
