Walk Thru Fire gelding continues his hot streak at Zia Park.

Q-Racing Journal

Olivas Racing’s Streak Hitter ran his win streak to three on Sunday at Zia Park with an impressive victory in the $55,340 Lovington Stakes (G2). Ridden by Jaime Leos for trainer Guadalupe Munoz Jr., Streak Hitter broke sharply from post one and drew away from the field to prevail by 1 ¼ lengths at the wire. The 5-2 favorite ran 400 yards in :19.339 to earn a 96 speed index.

Bred in California by Ed Allred, Streak Hitter is a 4-year-old gelding by Walk Thru Fire. The sorrel made his first two career starts at Los Alamitos, but since then has made 10 of 11 starts in New Mexico. This win marked his first stakes victory and again proved his affinity for Zia Park, where he had won two allowance races before the Lovington. All told, he has earned $93,782 with a record of 13-6-1-1.

Robbin Caldwell and Danny Salisbury’s I V Gone, who last time out won the OQHRA Fall Classic at Will Rogers Downs, took second, and Charvet closed to finish third.
