The Bank of America Challenge Championships on Saturday at Prairie Meadows came to a close with a big upset in the $75,000 Zoetis Starter Allowance Challenge Championship as Desiderio Nava’s Im Beau Brown prevailed at odds of 26-1. Ridden by Cesar Gomez and trained by Gustavo Rios, the 4-year-old gelding by PYC Paint Your Wagon traveled 350 yards in :17.630.

Im Beau Brown qualified with a win in the Zoetis Remington Starter Allowance Challenge in May and then moved on to Arapahoe Park near Denver, where he finished third in the Rocky Mountain Bonus Challenge in August. This win more than doubled his bankroll to $67,318 and improved his record to 22-4-4-4. Im Beau Brown was bred in Missouri by Larry Kist.

“We had a lot of confidence he was going to win,” said Rios. “He’s a nice horse, a real nice horse.”

Favorite Willie Mosconi extended his streak of consecutive in-the-money finishes to 12 with a second-place effort under Dylan Williams. The Ivory James gelding runs for owner and trainer Jorge Escalera.

Cash N FDD Dynasty, owned by Kevin Hogan and Bob McClure, had a two-race win streak snapped with a close third-place finish. Agustin Silva was aboard for trainer Alex Wessels.
