Palomino Trucking’s BP Run Cartel Run is setting up for his first stakes win when he carries fastest-qualifier honors into the $150,000 Black Gold 350 Futurity at Will Rogers Downs on Saturday afternoon.
The Black Gold Futurity program is for offspring of participating stallions.
BP Run Cartel Run (Cartel Success-Run Kita Run by Southern Cartel) has won two of his latest three starts, starting with a maiden score back in June at Fair Meadows. The improving colt raced to his most impressive win when he took a step up in class and won his Black Gold 350 Futurity trial by three parts of a length and his time of :17.481 was the top time from 10 trials.
The Jose Gamez-trained BP Run Cartel Run has come through with a pair of wins and two second-place finishes from four starts.
Belle Vista Farms’ homebred BV Never Give Up (Shazoom-Corona Cayenne by Corona Cartel) is still looking to win her first race for trainer Eddie Willis, however her second-place run behind BP Run Cartel Run was good for the second-fastest time of :17.583.
Jerry Windham’s Zoom Thru Fire (Jess Zoomin-La Dominica by Walk Thru Fire) won her maiden in her fourth start with a one-half length trial score. She was timed in :17.605 for the third-fastest mark. The Clinton Crawford-trained filly has been on the board in three of her four starts.
