This marked the third straight win and first stakes victory for Downwiththequickness, who improved his lifetime record to 12-5-1-2 with earnings of $68,057.

First Full Pocket, a 35-1 longshot, took second over 27-1 longshot Madams First Moon.

Lone Star Park

Israel Soliz Jr.’s Sparrow Contender broke sharp and lead all the way to victory in the 17th renewal of the $20,000 Nevill Document Solutions Stakes on opening night at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie.

Sparrow Contender, a 5-year-old stallion by Contend out of Taint Special by Streakin Six, is trained by Adrian Huitron and was ridden by Raul Gutierrez.

“There was no stopping him,” said Gutierrez.

Final time for the 350-yard stakes was :17.374 over a fast track. The speed index earned for the effort was 99.

For the win, Sparrow Contender returned $15.20, $8.60 and $3.80. Finishing three-quarters of a length in second was John the Banker, and he returned $11.20 and $5.40. Raising Kain was third and returned $4.40 for the show.

With the $11,400 winner’s share of the purse, Sparrow Contender upped his career earnings to $86,344. In his last out, he won the Simulcast Services Stakes at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds on August 23, giving him back-to-back stakes wins. His record is now 25-8-2-4.
