S and J Well Services’ Jump Street Blues is the 2-1 morning-line favorite in the $25,000 The Signature Stakes while Jose Meza’s Maxanita Silver Chip holds a similar role in the $20,000 Speedball Stakes on Sunday afternoon at Hialeah Park.

Trainer Kalah Welch sends out Jump Street Blues and Paint Candy Flying in The Signature.

Jump Street Blues (Jumpn Chic-Toodledoo Otoole by Jody O Toole) makes his stakes debut in the 350-yard The Signature. He comes off a close nose defeat at 220 yards in a $20,950 allowance race at Hialeah. The gelding was claimed for $20,000 two starts ago back in May at Remington Park.

Before he was claimed, Jump Street Blues made two starts at the $15,000 claiming level with a second-place run at 250 yards and a close third-place finish over 300 yards. He was favored in each race.

Elite Oilfield Services’ Paint Candy Flying (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Fly Candy Fly by Strawflyin Buds) shortens in distance after finishing second in the $25,000 Orange Blossom Stakes at 550 yards on December 28. He stumbled at the start, however had enough time to rally for second.

Last fall at Will Rogers Downs, Paint Candy Flying was third in the $19,300 OQHRA Fall Classic Stakes at 400 yards.
In the 110-yard Speedball Stakes, Maxanita Silver Chip (Shur Likes To Shine-Rennie Smith by R. Smith (TB)) won his maiden two starts ago in his 15th out on October 11 and has shown he can handle class jumps. He came back on January 3 at Hialeah for trainer Raul Dela Mora to manage a nose win at 14-1 odds in a 110-yard open allowance race worth $20,950.

Argelio Aguayo Jr.’s JC Lil Rose (No Secrets Here-Oh Cherokee Rose by Stoli) chases her third-straight win in her stakes debut. Two starts ago at Will Rogers Downs, the filly won at the $15,000 claiming level and then came back at Hialeah to be claimed for $15,000 out of a conditioned optional-claiming race.
