Apollitical Blood Risks Win Streak in Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby

The fastest qualifier drew post 7 for the 440-yard, $415,690 stakes.

Rancho el Cabresto Inc.’s Apollitical Blood will put his three-race win streak on the line in Saturday’s 440-yard, $415,690 Texas Classic Derby (G1) at Lone Star Park.

All of Apollitical Blood’s wins during his streak have been at this quarter-mile distance and include a dominating 1 3/4-length victory in the September 6, $2,378,000 All American Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs. The fastest qualifier, Apollitical Blood will be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio from post 7 for trainer Juan Aleman.

Johnny Trotter’s Bodacious Eagle has won his last two outs, including the 440-yard, $194,000 Dash For Cash Derby (G3) at Lone Star Park on October 10. The gelded son of One Famous Eagle is trained by Trey Wood and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez from post 10.
