Champ Heza Dasha Fire Entered in Super Derby Trials

Last year's champion 2-year-old gelding, Heza Dasha Fire drew post 3 in the last of three trials on Sunday.

Champion Heza Dasha Fire is entered in Sunday's 400-yard Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1) trials.

Heza Dasha Fire, last year’s champion 2-year-old gelding, is one of 21 sophomores entered in Sunday’s Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1) trials.

Owned by S-Quarter K LLC and trained by Jose Flores, Heza Dasha Fire is a homebred son of Walk Thru Fire. The gelding has won eight races, including last year’s Ed Burke Million (G1) and Golden State Million (G1) futurities, and he has earned $1,041,940.

Heza Dasha Fire drew post 3 and will be ridden by Cruz Mendez in the last of three 400-yard trials.

Forget It, a two-time graded stakes winner this season, drew post 4 and will be ridden by Carlos Huerta in the second heat. Forget It races for Dutch Masters III and trainer Jaime Gomez.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Sunday’s trials will meet in the $859,400 Los Alamitos Super Derby final on November 1. The winner will earn a berth in this year’s 440-yard, $600,000 Champion of Champions (G1) in December.
