Los Alamitos Racecourse will present a rare all-Quarter Horse program on Friday night. Post time for the first of eight races is set for 7 p.m. (PDT).
The card will feature the 38 2-year-olds, including many of the horses that have shined during recent morning workouts. The list of potential stars who will compete include Paul Jones and D. & E. Knox’s Evil Genius, Nicolas Hernandez’s Valentines Kiss, Jones and Thompson Racing, Inc’s That Rico, and Jesus Nava’s Brimmin Corona.
A colt by Favorite Cartel, Evil Genius shined on March 19, as he worked 220 yards in :12.10, the fastest of 72 drills at the distance that day. Oscar Peinado will ride Evil Genius from post 9 in the first race.
Juvenile fillies, headed by Valentines Kiss, will compete in the second race. Trained by Jose Flores, the daughter of Corona Cartel recorded the second fastest of 39 drills (:12.20) on March 24. In the sixth race, Guillermo Morales will saddle the talented Fantastic Corona Jr filly Brimmin Corona, who on March 15 posted the fastest of 49 drills (:12.10).
Hashtaggin, a half sister to champion Matabari, will also make her debut in Friday's sixth race.
