Eyema Blue Wagon Draws Post 5 for $217,850 West Texas Futurity Final

The fastest qualifier from eight trials seeks his first stakes victory on Saturday.

Fastest qualifier Eyema Blue Wagon drew post 5 for Saturday’s 300-yard, $217,850 West Texas Futurity (G2) at Sunland Park.

An Oklahoma-bred son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon trained by Albert Franco for Regal Racing Stables LLC, Eyema Blue Wagon made his debut with a one-length victory as the 2-1 favorite in the third of eight trials on April 15. Sergio Becerra Jr. will ride the colt in the final.

Jessica Meza’s Gamey Tee Cos drew post 4 and will be ridden by Manuel Gutierrez. A Louisiana-bred colt by Tee Cos trained by Juventino Ruiz, Gamey Tee Cos won the seventh trial by 1 1/4 lengths in his career debut.

West Texas Juvenile Stakes
Tarrant, a sorrel son of Coronas Leaving You racing for David G. Valdez of Odessa, Texas, is one of 11 2-year-olds (including one also-eligible) entered back in Saturday’s 300-yard, $50,000 West Texas Juvenile Stakes.

Trained by Juan M. Gonzalez, Tarrant outran his 11-1 odds to win his West Texas Futurity trial by three-quarters of a length on April 15. The colt drew post 10 and will be ridden by Salvador Martinez.
