Minnesota Festival of Champions Features Two Quarter Horse Stakes

Stakes winners Pyc Jess Bite Mydust, V Os Filo return Sunday at Canterbury Park.

A field of eight state-bred juveniles, topped by stakes winner Pyc Jess Bite Mydust, has been entered in Sunday’s 350-yard, $45,000 Minnesota Futurity (R) at Canterbury Park.

A homebred Apollitical Jess gelding trained by Jason Olmstead for Lunderborg LLC, Pyc Jess Bite Mydust is coming off of a head victory as the 6-5 favorite in the July 10, 350-yard Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity. Pyc Jess Bite My Dust drew post 8 and will be ridden by Brayan Velazquez.

Olmstead will also send out Vodka At Moonlight, a homebred filly racing for Summer Run Inc. The runner-up to Faster Than Hasta in the July 10, 350-yard Minnesota Stallion Breeders’ Futurity (R), Vodka At Moonlight drew post 2 and will be ridden by Nik Goodwin.

Also on Sunday, Rodney Von Ohlen’s V Os Filo will attempt to extend his win streak in the 400-yard, $45,000-added Minnesota Derby (R).

A homebred son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon, V Os Filo is coming off of wins against aged Minnesota-breds in the July 31, 440-yard Cash Caravan Stakes (R), and the June 26, 400-yard Bob Moorehouse Stakes (R). The gelding drew post 7 and will be ridden by Jose Montoya for trainer Ed Hardy.
